Wayne became passionate about jousting after seeing his first contact joust at a tournament in 2001. Right then and there he realized two things "They are really trying to knock one another off the horse", and "I want to do that!". View Wayne's Photo Gallery
Wayne took up riding lessons in the spring of 2002 and that summer became the proud owner of Navarro. Through training camps and lots of saddle time Wayne entered his first light armour competition in the summer of 2004. His debut for the Knights of Valour was at the Picton Winery show where he took on the persona of Sir William Falstaff, the "Drunken Knight". He next focused on changing divisions to heavy armour for the summer of 2005. Wayne continues to practice and take instruction to perfect his art of the sport of Kings.
About Navarro
Navarro was born in 1995 in Mennonite country where he worked the plough as soon as he was large enough to fit in the collars. After being acquired by Shane, Navarro was trained for the 2001 Dragon's Lair in Orangeville. Sir Wayne purchased him following the 2002 Dragon's Lair in Waterford.
Arguably one of the fastest joust horses, Navarro's bright, inquisitive nature is well suited to his playful, puppy-dog attitude. |
